Neuland Laboratories has officially launched the first module of its commercial peptide manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India, marking a milestone in the company’s expansion strategy and signaling confidence in the rapidly growing peptide therapeutics market.
The newly operational Module One brings 7,000 liters of total reactor capacity online, including 750 liters dedicated to solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and 6,250 liters for liquid-phase peptide synthesis (LPPS). The facility is designed to support everything from early-stage development programs to multikilogram commercial production of complex peptide active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
In a significant development, Neuland said it is already preparing to move ahead with Module Two earlier than originally planned. Foundational infrastructure is already in place, and the company is working closely with a customer to finalize equipment configuration, instrumentation needs, and production capacity for projects expected to anchor the next phase of growth.
The acceleration reflects booming demand for outsourced peptide manufacturing as drug developers race to advance programs beyond obesity and metabolic diseases into areas such as oncology.
Module One features separate SPPS and LPPS production suites, allowing parallel manufacturing operations. The site is also equipped with three DAC purification columns and two lyophilizers, supporting both crude peptide production and fully finished peptide APIs.
The company invested approximately $30 million into the first module and is now aligning future spending with customer requirements. Planned specifications for Module Two include up to 18,000 liters of reactor capacity, featuring three 5,000-liter LPPS reactors alongside large-scale SPPS capability.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Saharsh Davuluri said the company is planning beyond near-term market demand.
“Our goal is to ensure we have the capacity to meet customer demand not just over the next 24 months, but over the next decade, as we deepen our strategic partnerships with leading pharma and biotech companies,” he said.
With nearly 212 peptide specialists supporting operations and additional manufacturing modules already on the roadmap, Neuland is positioning itself as one of the industry’s key players in peptide development and commercial manufacturing as global demand continues to accelerate.
